Congratulations to the 491 adult volunteers in Scouts NSW who were recognised in this year’s Scouts Australia Adult Recognition Awards.

This is a fantastic result, with more than double the amount of volunteers acknowledged for their dedication and support of Scouts NSW this year than in 2025. On World Scout Day we reflect on the significant contributions each member and supporter of Scouting makes every day. These volunteers are recognised not just for the longevity of their service, but for the quality of their Leadership, within both their individual Units and Groups and to Scouts as a whole. The ARAs are part of the Scout Association’s observance of the founding of Scouting at the first Scout camp held at Brownsea Island in the United Kingdom on 1 August 1907. |
Chief Commissioner Bel Howell commended the recipients on their achievements.
“Reading through the award submissions, I was struck at both the variety of activities and the amount of time given by our members and volunteers,” she said.
“I frequently hear volunteers talk about why they are adults in Scouts. They talk about the difference they can make, about how they can positively influence young people, and about what they can teach and what they can learn.
“I’ve never heard one person say that they are adults in Scouting so they can receive a medallion or a certificate. The Scouting journey – not the destination – is why we do what we do. I’m so pleased that we can recognise their journey.”
