Congratulations to the 2025 Adult Recognition Award (ARA) Recipients

Published Fri 01 Aug 2025

Congratulations to the 261 adult volunteers in Scouts NSW who were recognised in this year’s Scouts Australia Adult Recognition Awards.

On World Scout Day, we reflect on the remarkable contribution each member and supporter of Scouting makes every day. These incredible volunteers are recognised not just for the longevity of their service, but for the quality of their Leadership, within both their individual Units and Groups and to Scouts as a whole.

The ARAs are part of the Scout Association’s observance of the founding of Scouting at the first Scout Camp held at Brownsea Island in the UK on 1 August 1907.

Chief Commissioner Lloyd Nurthen commended the recipients on their achievements.

“Thank you to all our volunteers at all levels – without your passion and dedication, Scouts would not be able to provide children and young people across the state with opportunities to challenge themselves in fun and adventurous environments,” he said.

“From our committee members helping the behind-the-scenes administration and finances to keep ticking along; to the parents and adult helpers who show up for every barbecue, Christmas tree sale, or working bee; our Program Support Leaders helping to assist our Leaders with the variety of activities available at Scouts; and of course our Youth Program Leaders delivering the program weekly –  every single person matters.

“Week after week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. The volunteers recognised in today’s awards have gone above and beyond in their dedication to our youth members, their fellow volunteers and the Scouting Movement.

“Thank you for your service.”
