Construction begins on Camp Kurrajong redevelopment

The future of Camp Kurrajong is bright with the site set to be transformed into an accessible, modern and contemporary activity centre for the Riverina Region and beyond.

Construction at the almost $7 million upgrade of Camp Kurrajong is now underway thanks largely to funding from the Bushfire Community Recovery & Resilience Program - an Australian Government Initiative

The upgrade will revitalise Scouting in the Riverina, with the inclusion of a new multi-purpose hall; large commercial kitchen and dining; a new 42-bed lodge and an activity tower with a climbing wall and flying fox, in addition to the approximately 350 camping sites available.

The planned upgrade will include a new multi-purpose hall that will support a wide range of uses, including conferences, indoor activities and meetings. The space will also include a large commercial kitchen and dining for up to 120 people.

For those staying on site, a new 42-bed lodge with accessible facilities and ensuites provided to all rooms will be constructed. The camping and activity areas will receive a facelift and a major feature at the facility will be a new activity tower, which will include a climbing wall and flying fox.

Camp Kurrajong has been a cornerstone of the Scouting Movement in the Riverina for generations, offering outdoor education and leadership programs that help young Scouts build confidence, teamwork, and resilience. This upgrade reflects a strong commitment to continuing this proud tradition and making the camp a safer and more accessible place for all participants, while also preserving its natural beauty.
